Princess Diana’s sons William and Harry are said to be extremely dismayed over the broadcast of graphic photos in a documentary about her death in a Paris car crash 10 years ago.
The Princes lamenting the broadcast on British television channel have called it a gross disrespect to their mother’s memory.
Earlier on, the Princes pleaded to the television channel not to telecast the photos on Channel 4, which says it would go ahead with plans to broadcast ‘Diana: The Witnesses in the Tunnel, after weighing the princes’ concerns against the legitimate public interest.
The princes’ spokesman was reported saying that, the broadcast is an encroachment of the privacy of the two Princes.
Channel 4, has been plagued by controversies. Earlier, the channel was mired in controversy this year when it was forced to apologize over a racist row in its “Celebrity Big Brother” reality show.
The decision of the channel to telecast an incident of such a high- profile nature that left the world stunned, has sharply divided opinion in Britain.
Diana died along with her companion Dodi al Fayed when the car driven by Henri Paul crashed in a Paris road tunnel while being chased by paparazzi. All the three occupants of the car were killed.
The documentary producers have amassed clippings, through reconstruction, archive footage and eyewitness accounts, interviewed the photographers and the doctor shown administering oxygen to the wounded princess, pieces together Diana’s last moments.
Her face is blemished in a blurred picture from the crash scene.
