Instructions:
1. Take the cereal: Put nine cups of Crispix cereal in to the bowl and add sugar in right quantity. The bowl should be of a large size. Chex cereal too could be used for making puppy chow. Ensure that the bowl is safe to use in a microwave. Put a lid or some other sort of covering over the bowl. Crispix cereal can be a better choice than chex cereal if it is your priority to avoid a salty taste. Before mixing the Crispix cereal with sugar, make sure that the sugar is powdered.
2. Melt the ingredients: Mix together half cup peanut butter, quarter cup butter and one cup semisweet chocolate chips. Melt these ingredients in a double boiler. Keep on mixing the ingredients while melting. After a while, the chocolate chips and butter will melt. Then remove the mixture from the heater and stir using half teaspoon of vanilla. Use creamy peanut butter instead of chunky peanut butter as creamy peanut butter is easier to melt. The butter should be thick enough. The chocolate chips should be semi sweet as it would give the mix a sweet and bitter taste. After melting the ingredients, mix it vigorously.
3. Pour the mix over the cereal: Pour the melted mix of chocolate and butter over the Crispix cereal. Move the resulting mixture into another container and pour in powdered sugar into it. It should be poured in such a manner that it covers the whole mixture.At the end the mix should coat on the cereal. After the mix coats, leave it to cool. Cooling should take at most a few minutes.
4. Serving puppy chow: You can add sugar to the mixture. The powdered sugar can be stored in a bag. After adding sugar, shake it for some time. You can later store it in an air tight container. You can serve the puppy chow in a large bowl to your children or guests.
