The Food and Drug Administration has given a green signal for farmed fish that may have been eaten with any Chinese ingredients. The FDA said that it should be safe to eat as it doesn’t contain any contamination. The two fish farms, Kona Blue in Hawaii and American Gold Seafoods in Washington State that had used feed from China had stopped to provide fish, for the tests to be done. However, the samples were found negative for melamine. The same feed was also sold to some 196 fish hatcheries but the feed has been recalled. The FDA also cleared some 56,000 pigs that were given the same feed.

China is also facing a lot of problems after the FDA’s tightened food check as since the problem of melamine had come into the light, some 46 shipments of protein concentrate from China have been detained. FDA officials have asked the producing companies to prove that the material is free of melamine. The fish being imported from China is also being tested.

Meanwhile, Chenango Valley Pet Foods had expanded its pet food recall. The recall now includes foods that do not contain the suspect rice protein concentrate but were manufactured during the period when the formulas were in the making.
