If there is a funky side to pomegranate, apart form all the gravity the little red globules give to its cancer fighting capacity, is that this fruit has perked up some premium spirits. Heaven Hill distilleries, a Kentucky based liquor company has rolled out new liquor blending pomegranate juice, premium Vodka and a dash of imported tequila. They have named the liquor as PAMA and PAMA is doing successful as a cocktail ingredient in upscale Peacock Alley restaurant and bar in the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.
PAMA was launched last year in New York City, Chicago, South Florida and Southern California and a nation-wide launch is expected by last spring. PAMA costs $24.99 for 750ml bottle. PAMA’s fruit blend gives it a red ruby color and a distinct flavor when mixed with cocktails. Above all PAMA celebrates the antique goodness of pomegranate fruit brought into California by Spanish settlers in the 1700s.
