For most of us time comes when we have to bid farewell to our passion and our metier. This happens when we reach a certain point of time in our lives. But I am apprehensive and disheartened on learning that Oscar winner Nicolas Cage is planning to quit acting in movies.
The Ghost Rider star has made up his mind to depart as an actor as he is tired of acting, which no more gives him that excitement as he said :
I???m not interested in showing my face or making statements. I enjoy acting when it works. Some movie stars look like they are having a ball, but I???m tired of it. It has made me reclusive. That is an increasingly gnawing feeling in my body.
Personally I feel that his recent low-profile films that did not perform fairly at the box office may have made him assume that people no longer want to watch his movies as he further added:
When I first started I loved it. One of my frustrations is I have no control. I haven???t worked in a while and it will be eight months before I start my next picture. I know for the first time which direction I???m going in and what changes I want to make.
Well I hope that Cage is not serious about quitting acting and will continue being an actor in films like others stars of his age (Tom Cruise, 45, and Brad Pitt, 44). Seeing caliber of stars like Pitt and Cruise one gets assured that age has nothing to do with acting as long as one can give the best to his fans. Not ignoring the fact that ???Success is built on failure??? Cage should carry on acting ???something with which he is associated from past 25 years.
44-year-old Cage currently resides in Midford Castle in Somerset, England with wife Alice Kim and two-year-old son Kal-el.
