No, David Letterman is not planning to enter into her zone or run for the President’s post in the next presidential elections. It’s Sarah Palin who has trespassed the funnyman’s territory with the intention of waging a war against him by demanding an apology for his joke about her daughter.
Apparently, Sarah Palin is not happy with Letterman’s joke earlier this week that Palin’s daughter got “knocked up” by New York Yankee slugger A-Rod during their recent trip to New York. In fact, Palin looks focused to make a mountain out of this molehill because she is leaving no stone unturned to stretch this thing to a national level. She says Letterman owes an apology to young women across the country for his behavior.
The Alaska governor said on NBC’s “Today” show Friday,
I would like to see him apologize to young women across the country for contributing to kind of that thread that is throughout our culture that makes it sound like it is OK to talk about young girls in that way, where it’s kind of OK, accepted and funny to talk about statutory rape. It’s not cool. It’s not funny.
Though Letterman tried to save his skin by saying that he joked about Palin’s 18-year-old daughter Bristol, who is an unwed mother, Palin is not ready to buy his story because she was traveling with her 14-year-old daughter Willow.
Now, it’s quite easy to guess why Palin is trying to raise such a loud cry. She’s a potential future candidate for the President’s office and she wants to milk this opportunity to emerge as a national hero.
But what’s the problem with Letterman? I think he skipped his homework before that particular show, and the result was a big blunder that he’ll always regret. Anyway, let’s wait and watch.
