Padma Lakshmi has finally won the battle to be a mom. After years of struggling with endometriosis – a complex medical condition where the lining of the uterus grows in other areas of the body – the 39-year-old ex-model and Top Chef host gave birth to a healthy baby girl in New York City on Saturday. Padma’s rep has confirmed the news, adding that the baby has been named Krishna.

The Indian-born TV chef, 39, announced in October (09) that she was expecting her first child, branding the pregnancy a “medical miracle” after years of struggling with endometriosis, in which the lining of the uterus grows in other areas of the body. She was reportedly hospitalised with complications last month (Jan10), but a representative for the Top Chef star has confirmed she gave birth to a healthy baby girl in New York City on Saturday (20Feb10).
