Who can forget the hauntingly beautiful and very disturbing performance by Natalie Portman in the recent master piece Black Swan? While her acting scooped away the well deserved accolades including the hallowed Academy award, her dancing too was part of the magic. So it is but natural that the makers of the film are pretty disturbed at this point of time since the body double of miss Portman in the movie, Ballerina Sarah Lane, maintains that she did the majority of Portman’s dancing in Black Swan.
US Magazine reports that Natalie Portman’s body double Lane told 20/20:
They’re completely lying about the amount of dancing Natalie did in the movie.
I’ve been doing this for 22 years, and to say that someone trained for a year and a half and did what I did is degrading not only to me but to the entire ballet world. They threaten the entire principle of ballet and I feel like I need to say something.
The film’s director, Darren Aronofsky, says the claims are completely untrue. When the film’s editor Andy Weisblum was approached, he said that out of 35 full-body shots, Natalie did 23 herself.
