The most talked about celebrity in the world this year has been the fallen star Britney Spears. Stretching from her still dragging divorce fiasco with Kevin Federline to the release of her comeback single to the battered relationship with her mother, the American pop singer-songwriter has never failed to hit the headlines on the gossip pages.
There are very few who sympathize with her agonies over the past several months. Most of her friends have deserted her and Britney is in a sham. But a certain group of Britney’s ex-pals and former employees have come up in an effort to help the distorted star. They want all fans of Britney Spears to shun all merchandize and goods bearing her name. Their argument is that the plethora of people who exploit Britney’s brand name would not be able to abuse the Britney cash cow anymore. This, they believe, would gift Britney Spears more breathing space and more peace of mind.
Calling themselves Be Proactive to Help, the group sends this message to all Broitney fans through MySpace:
Sitting around and talking about how bad of a person, singer, mother – whatever your thoughts are – these things won’t help change this very broken woman. Help Britney help herself by expressing your concern to those who are largely responsible for her success, and continue to capitalize on her every move.
It’s hard to discern any grain of logic in this. There’s little doubt that all celebrities want to be in the news for one reason or the other and although Britney might not relish hitting the world headlines for all wrong reasons, she would be wary of the financial loss should her brand sells start dropping.
