A UNICEF-supported Orlando Bloom’s 4-day visit to various villages of Nepal was a success. Orlando was there to gain attention to the UNICEF’s work for eradicating poverty and infants’ death. Being a movie star, he was still very comfortable in his visit to remote villages in the western districts of Chitwan, and Kaski in Nepal, and was seen having fun with the villagers.

Orlando Bloom was welcomed in the Kalika village, with red ’tilak’ on forehead, and flower garland by village women. Next, he was seen playing balloons with school kids in Himalayas. His Pokhara village trip was for, blind girls and boys where he was seen happily mixing with over 3 dozen blind children and actively participating on small drama for UNICEF radio shows.

On serious aspects, he also faced how poor villagers struggle for basic needs to improve life. He noticed, six-year (before and after Nepal), where previously only 84 percent goes to school, but now every children are enrolled in school and getting a good education. Decrease in women’s work was also seen from 18 to 12 hrs a day now. Villagers are now more health conscious then before, and taking an iodized salt in their diet.

And he observed, how actively children’s clubs, in the Himalayan hills are promoting healthy cleanliness and sanitation habits among villagers. And later, Orlando learned how beautifully the village people are supported by UNICEF and he was totally impressed about student’s ambition and their leadership quality.
