Actress Jane Wyman dies at 93

Hollywood has lost one more vintage star of its golden era as the Oscar-winner actress Jane Wyman, one of Hollywood’s most successful stars of the 1940s and ’50s and the first wife of former US President Ronald Reagan, dies at the age of 93. She took her last breath on Monday at her home in Palm Springs in California.

Wyman was one of the most talked about stars of Hollywood during her era. She was nominated for oscars for a total of four times and won it once in the best actress category for her portrayal of a deaf rape victim in 1948’s Johnny Belinda.

She did a variety of roles in her film career which ended in 1969 with her last film How to Commit Marriage. She started her second innings in 1981 with the hit TV soap Falcon Crest. As Angela Chaning, she kept the audience captivated in the soap which ran successfully from 1981 to 1990.

Wyman married five times in all, but her marriage to Reagan recieved more media coverage. She tied the nuptials with Reagan in the 1940. Their marriage suffered a setback and finally they split in 1948. The couple had two children. Reagan’s political career is cited as the reason for the couples split.
