Alice Cooper was mistaken for a girl by his wife

Sheryl Cooper, the wife of rock star Alice Cooper, revealed a very startling fact at a recent US TV show. The lady coyly told E! Entertainment Show Rock Star’s Wives that when she first heard his name while auditioning as a dancer for one of his pop videos, she thought her husband was a girl.

Well, this doesn’t come as a surprise for me. Although the rock stalwart is known for his penchant for incorporating some of the freakiest elements into his music, often borrowing from plots of horror movies, his name creates a very feminine image on the minds of those who hear it for the first time.

Cooper was born Vincent Damon Furnier but opted for this ultra-feminine name when he launched his solo career in 1974. Incidentally, ‘Alice Cooper’ was the name of the original band that he dismantled to take off on a solo journey. Hence, it is understood that this was a gesture of his love for the band.

Meanwhile, Sheryl was assisted by Cooper himself as she opened up some pages from her personal life with the 59-year-old singer, which included Cooper’s alcoholism.
