Mentwabe Dawit, who claims to be the mother of Angelina Jolie’s adopted daughter, Zahara, told Reuters that she had conceived the child after she had been raped. In 2004 when one night she was returning back home from work at a construction, a man with a dagger attacked her and he put one hand on her mouth, raped her and went away. All this happened in the southern Ethiopian town of Awasa.
Dawit who is 24, did not tell anyone but she could not hide her pregnancy for long. She gave birth to the child at home but she could not feed the child. As a result child was a victim of malnutrition and seeing the condition of the child, Dawit’s mother decided to let the child be adopted.
When asked about the rumors of her wanting the child back, she totally denied and said she was very happy for her child that her future is bright and also proud of the fact that she was adopted by a world famous lady. She even wished them success.
