Finally the body of Anna Nicole Smith was laid to rest Friday in the Bahamas. The former Playboy model went to her grave wearing a pink beaded gown and pink tiara. Her coffin was draped in a pink cloth, with rhinestones spelling out her name and feathers floating down over the sides.
Anna was placed in a grave next to her dead son Daniel while a raucous crowd of onlookers cheered and shouted outside Nassau’s Lakeview cemetery. Some in the crowd cried out, ‘Anna! Anna! We love you!’
Smith’s mother, Virgie Arthur, arrived 40 minutes late at the funeral after having her appeal denied, due to which funeral ceremony was delayed.
Twenty-four doves were released over the grave of the tabloid star, whose sudden demise in Florida on February 8 aged 39, captivated media storm.
The ceremony was attended by 30 people, including her estranged mother Virgie Arthur, her longtime companion Howard K. Stern and former boyfriend Larry Birkhead, who had fought bitterly over the corpse, and over Smith’s 5-month old daughter Dannielynn.
Well funeral is not the end, the legal battling over the custody of Smith’s daughter, that began with Smith’s unexpected death is still pending. Poor child!
