Anna Nicole Smith Gets Delay on Paternity Test

Former ‘Playboy’ playmate Anna Nicole Smith skipped out on a planned paternity test for her newborn baby, Dannielynn.

A judge temporarily blocked an order forcing her daughter to undergo paternity testing, an attorney said.

Smith’s ex-boyfriend, photographer Larry Birkhead, claims to be her baby’s dad, but she insists that her lawyer Howard K. Stern is the father of the child, born on September 7 in Nassau, Bahamas.

Ronald A. Rale, an attorney for the Smith questioned the legality of the test, saying Bahamian authorities needed to grant work permits before an American doctor could conduct the test.

The judge granted a stay pending a Feb. 7 hearing, Rale said.

Birkhead’s lawyer, Debra Opri, called Rale’s request ‘a delay tactic.’

She claimed the test was scheduled between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday but Smith never showed up.

Smith’s 20-year-old son, Daniel, died in the Bahamas three days after the birth of her daughter. A pathologist hired by the model said he apparently died from a drug overdose.
