Anti-Defamation League forgives Mel Gibson

mel gibson7845Mel Gibson was arrested last Friday over the charges of drunken driving, but this case got simply side lined because of his anti-Semitic comments. When Gibson was arrested in Malibu, California, he asked the cop if he was a Jew, he further added that Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world. He was highly criticized all over for his mean comments that made him issue an apology on Saturday. However, National Director of the Anti-Defamation League, Abraham H. Foxman, called his apology ‘unremorseful and insufficient’, so Gibson issued a more detailed response on Tuesday.

Gibson said that, he is no extremist; he is in the process of understanding where those nasty words came from. In his second statement, he asked for help from the Jewish community, accepting that he has offended them and wants them to help him on his journey through recovery.

Abraham H. Foxman, issued a statement lately saying that this is an apology they were expecting, it sounds sincere. He welcomed Gibson’s effort to repair the damage he has caused and to reach out to the Jewish community for help. Foxman said that once he completes his rehabilitation for alcohol abuse they would be ready to help him with his second rehabilitation to fight off this disease of prejudice. To smooth his relations with Jews Gibson has been invited to speak to the Jewish Community on their holy day of atonement, Yom Kippur.
