After weeks of speculation of whether it will be or it won’t be, David Beckham, 32, has finally earned his 100th cap for England, becoming the fifth player to do so for England and has joined the likes of legendary English footballers like Billy Wright, Bobby Charlton, Bobby Moore and Peter Shilton. Beckham took the field against arch rival France in Paris, and to commemorate this splendid occasion, wore golden boots. But Becks’ 100th game didn’t prove too fruitful for England with France winning, 1-0. Beckham also got a yellow card around the 38th minute and was substituted in the 62nd minute.

Though the entire Beckham family and his friends were in the stadium to cheer him on, Beckham’s age was catching up with him as he struggled to keep pace with Manchester United defender Wes Brown. Beckham didn’t have too great a game at the Stade de France, but the respect he commands world over for his remarkable footballing prowess was on full display as the entire crowd rose to appreciate this footballing genius as he walked off the field in the 63rd minute. Let us hope that the aging David Beckham makes one last big bend pass into the goal very soon. That will be a fitting end to a very illustrious career.
