Late crocodile hunter Steve Irwin’s eight-year-old daughter, Bindi Irwin is ready to continue her father’s work spreading the wonder of wildlife.

‘I’m going to become a wildlife warrior just like he was,’ told an audience Friday at Washington’s National Press Club.

Steve Irwin was killed by a stingray at Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef last year. After five months of his death, Bindi and her mother, Terri, are touring the United States to promote Bindi’s upcoming TV series.

‘I don’t want to grow up in a world without wildlife. We must do something now to help save their homes. We have to stop cutting down forests and polluting our oceans and rivers…. My daddy was a wildlife warrior and I’m going to continue his work,’ Bindi said.

When Bindi was asked how she compared snakes and reporters: ‘I really think I like poisonous snakes,’ she answered, grinning for the dozens of assembled cameras and journalists.

Steve Irwin was famous internationally for his high-energy, up-close handling of dangerous animals. He was filming a scene for his daughter Bindi’s upcoming television series when a stingray pierced his heart with its poisonous barb on Sept. 4, 2006.
