And we thought the pain will never end. The pain from laughing till out lungs fell out, that’s it! Well it’s a sad day and Sacha Baron Cohen has decided to hang up two pairs of boots.
Baron Cohen is planning on retiring two of his most famous characters – Borat, the anti-Semitic, homophobic, Kazakh journalist, and his alter ego, the hilarious aspiring rapper, Ali G.
Baron Cohen admits that he loved playing the two characters but also feels its time to move on:
When I was being Ali G and Borat I was in character sometimes 14 hours a day and I came to love them, so admitting that I am never going to play them again is quite a sad thing.
It’s like saying goodbye to a loved one. It’s hard and the problem with success, although it’s fantastic, is that every new person who sees the Borat movie is one less person I ‘get’ with Borat again, so it’s kind of self-defeating form, really.
It’s upsetting but the success has been great and better than anything I could have dreamed of.
I never thought I’ll ever actually say this, but I’m gonna miss the two brats.
