The reported denial of status of sandwich to burritos is a result of a clause in a lease written out by Panera to prevent a Qdoba Mexican Grill from entering into the White City Shopping Center, where the former operates.
The refute between a burrito and a sandwich is controversial enough for the sole reason that sandwiches have evolved over the time to include snack wraps, since the time it had its origin. Facts of origin claim that it was named after the 4th Earl of Sandwich, who wanted a convenient wrap around the food he ate to prevent it from dripping while playing cards.
Therefore, Panera might not have a fair share of sales for the very reason that neither the origin of sandwich nor the evolution of sandwich stops burrito from a convenient food and a good snack.
