Cate Blanchett gets two nominations, stands on the verge of history

the

Oscar fever has hit tinseltown and even though strike fears still cast a doubt over the elaborate ceremony, the usual euphoria still persists. Nominations have been announced and one Australian has got a double nod. Cate Blanchett has received double nod, one each for her roles in Elizabeth the Golden Age and I’m Not There. The former has got her a nomination for Best Actress and the latter has fetched a nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Blanchett stands on the verge of doing something very special. The expectant mum, if she goes on to win, will become only the first ever to achieve the double. As a matter of fact, only 11 people in the history have been nominated in both the two leading and supporting category.
