Celine Dion pregnant with embryo frozen for eight years

You may take it as a segment from a science fiction movie, but Celine Dion’s second pregnancy is no less than a fairytale with a generous dose of technology and a helping hand from fertility specialist, Dr. Zev Rosenwaks. The 41-year-old singer is pregnant with an embryo that had been kept frozen in liquid nitrogen for the past eight years.

According to People,

Dion had her embryos frozen when she went through IVF while trying to conceive her first child, René-Charles, who was born in 2001. When she completed her performance run in Las Vegas in 2007, she consulted Rosenwaks about trying again. “She came back to have the embryos transferred back because she wanted to have another baby,” he says.

This is one area where I really feel like thanking science and technology. Obviously, making babies is anytime better than making bombs. Anyway, here’s a big congrats to Celine Dion and, of course, wishing her a healthy pregnancy.
