Chocolate a day keeps the doctor away…

Chocolate a day keeps heart disease at bay is the latest revelation by a group of researchers from John Hopkins University, who apparently bumped across this discovery while studying the effects of aspirin on heart disease. Facts provided point out those 390 patients out of 1200, who took part in a survey to study the effects of aspirin on blood platelets, had not refrained against the consumption of chocolates.

Chocolates, which are considered to make blood platelets stickier ironically, lead to slower clotting of the blood platelets in patients who did not refrain themselves from chocolates, in comparison to the patients who refrained themselves from the same.

Earlier studies by University Hospital, Zurich, showed that dark cacao being rich in flavonols, have inhibited the adhesion of blood platelets to prevent clotting. However there is no scientific evidence backing the long term effects of consuming dark chocolates for heart health, nor does the research apply to sugar-filled candies and all the varieties of chocolates.

Therefore, research has to be very specific concerning the consumption of a specific variety of dark chocolate, in specific amounts to make the chocolate lovers have a reasonable backing to eat only certain chocolates daily.
