Cocoa compound as good as penicillin, study says

Finding by Norman Hollenberg, a researcher of the Harvard Medical School, has once again pitched the health benefits of cocoa. The findings have reportedly equaled the health benefits from cocoa to penicillin and anesthesia. Inferences from the finding claim that cocoa has 13 essential vitamins, out of which the compound Epicatechin, from the family of flavonols, apparently does the wonder with heart diseases, cancer and diabetes.

Doubtless, there has been prior research regarding the flavones capacities of cocoa, but this research is backed by a case study from the Kuna people in Panama, who drink up to 40 cups of cocoa a week, resulting in an incidence of heart and other diseases, less than 10 percent. But no case-study is going to help out the consumers until they consume a significant amount of cocoa in chocolates.

Therefore, the application of the functionality of cocoa can only be possible if confectionery and other food manufacturers maintain the proportion of cocoa for delivering the health benefits.

The challenge for confectionery manufacturers is to come-up with a cocoa-innovation in chocolates, to live-up to the research claiming the cocoa compound to be as good as penicillin.
