Coke and Pepsi do ‘it’ again with pesticides

Following the findings of carcinogens in the Coke plant sludge back in 2003, is another accusation by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), India that reports the presence of pesticides in soft drinks manufactured by Pepsi and Coke. Samples from twelve different states in India, reports that both Pepsi and Coke contained 25 to 30 times of pesticides in comparison to what the soft drinks had in 2003. It is pointed out quite sharply that presence of pesticides was voiced to show government flaw in not setting up standards for the quality control of the soft drinks.

While there is no denying the fact that India does not have quality control for beverages, it is equally true that soft drink manufacturers like Pepsi and Coke need to be controlled by their corporate heads as far as quality control is concerned. While Coke and Pepsi claim that there is ingredient evaluation in the laboratories, those claims have fallen flat many times. At the outset when the whole food and beverage industry is driving to produce healthy and flavorful stuff, Coke and Pepsi are behaving in an ironical manner as far as their commitment to quality is concerned.
