It is said that only special people are blessed with special children. It holds true in case of Hollywood’s much-loved star actor Colin Farrell. His son James is suffering from a rare form of cerebral palsy called Angelman Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder characterized by intellectual and developmental delay and speech impediment among others.
As the syndrome is named, the kid is an angel to his father. Farrell shows emotions that are so natural for the father of a special child. The actor and his ex-girlfriend Kim Bordenave hold the joint custody of the child.
To Farrell, the child is what he was meant to be and though James is not like other kids, he is a courageous and happy child. James’ speech and mobility has been affected by this dreadful disease but it has not been able to kill the human spirits of the child and its father. Without hiding his emotions on seeing his baby boy taking his first few steps though unusual, the actor confides of having emotions wetting his eyes.
The actor, who has been actively involved in the Special Olympics, claims that he never feels the child’s disability to be a constraint and that one can live and contribute to making life more beautiful even with clutching disabilities. Finally, we have a superstar who not only lives a heroic extraordinary life on screen but off screen as well. Three cheers to human spirit!
