Color-coded: Kanye won’t eat ‘white’ chicken or have ‘black’ credit

Kanye West is a man of strong likes and dislikes. He is a simple, old-fashioned, African-American artist who is just looking for a way to earn an honest wing of chicken. Oh, and did I mention, he likes his chicken to be ‘black’?

Not burnt black silly, black people black!

Yes, apparently, the producer-turned-singer has very clearly-formed ideas about the respective strengths and weaknesses of both the black and white traditions of America and in an interview to Spin magazine, he admitted that he believes in stereotypes and plays to them.

He said:

It’s America. People know the stereotypes. I play to the stereotypes. I believe in the stereotypes. And I submit to them… I find the best of everything. There’s certain things that black people are the best at and certain things that white people are the best at. Whatever the black people are the best at, I’m a go get that.

And what’s the deal with the ‘black’ chicken and the ‘black’ credit? This is how Kanye explained that:

(Affects a black, Southern accent) ‘Man, black people sure can cook some chicken! And I’m a get some black chicken.’…On Christmas I don’t want any food that tastes white. And when I go to purchase a house, I don’t want my credit to look black. (Laughs)

How stereotypical of him! But if the stereotypes make him come out with more of such fantastic music, I say let him have his ‘black’ chicken, and eat it too!
