Finally the much needed respite for the two-time Academy Award-winning American actress Jodie Foster. Michael Smegal, the 42 year old man who had been sending threatening letters to Jodie for several years, was arrested on charges of mailing a bomb threat to the Van Nuys Airport at Los Angeles in last December. The convict hails from Massachusetts and has been found guilty of sending over 100 similar letters that contained references of Foster to celebrities, business executives, airports and other places across Los Angeles starting from September 2007 to January 2008. In 1988, Foster won an Oscar for Best Actress for playing a rape survivor to perfection in ‘The Accused’. In 1991, she was highly appreciated for her role as Clarice Starling in ‘The Silence of the Lambs’, where she was a FBI trainee on the hunt of a serial killer.

Smegal started sending stalking her in 2004, but had admitted to the police that he would stop his atrocities in 2005. Finally now, he has been charged in U.S. District Court in Massachusetts and if convicted, will face up to 10 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine. Well, serves him right I say. No one has the right to disrupt another person???s peace of mind like this.
