Corruption in Public Life: National Integration Day

Today, we celebrate the National Integration Day in the memory of our beloved Prime Minster Late Mrs. Indira Gandhi, who fell to the bullets of one of her disgruntled Security personnel.
Today, is also a sober reminder, when we take a look what all have we gained and lost? I remember vividly that some of the politician of yester years called Mrs. G as the only male in the Govt. People around her knew it pretty well that she is fast and takes quick decisions. Some decisions of her like Nationalization of Banks, Undoing of Privipurse and Royal Estates, crises in Bangala Desh etc. are some of the finest examples of her managerial skills. Once clear, what is to be done, no bar can hold her reaching her goal in the shortest possible time. When I see the plight of Dr. Man Mohan Singh in case of 2G, I feel so bad. Had Congress not allowed its ally DMK to go so far probably it would not have experienced embarrassment as that of today? In dharma of coalition politics, parties involved should know where to stop. Karunanidhi depended too much on Raja. Or Raja may be working as agent of Karunanidhi in collection of funds for the party or for himself, who knows? When you stick to the guns that you want particular portfolios in ministry, it is indicator that there are some sinister aims behind it. Now PM and Congress is paying heavily for this misadventure. Telecom, has a big thing since 1995. It had lots of money. Right from the days of Sukh Ram, every one eyed and cornered that easy money, No party can say that their minister was not involved in doing some thing wrong including BJP during the time of Pramode Mahajan. I am pretty sure where the honey is the bees will be there. BJP is crying foul over land deal in Mumbai but their man in Karnataka seems to have done some thing wrong. You can not show finger towards others when you yourself are in deep trouble. It appears Congress is using this as check mate which again is not good.
PM has been sounding alarm of Corruption in public life. But he failed to take any bold initiatives to check the growth this menace. It appears now that the country has another debacle in the name Meerut Cantt. As one suggests, the loss could be more than Rs. Three Lac Crores in land deals of the military. Will PM sacrifice Mr. Anotony, Defence Minister? I don’t think so. We must go little deeper then skin surgery. What all our Govt. agencies responsible for anti corruption are doing is the post mortem. No one is ready to blow the whistle when it happens. In-fact, the preventive part is, just missing. We have to be proactive to combat this situation. Like the one on borders we never allow our enemy to penetrate if some one attempts he is shot at and eliminated, if possible. We have to create the agencies to effectively deal with when the crime is being committed. Our existing norms and the working of Police is insufficient to cope up with this changing scenario. May be that I am a novice in this area. There may be better known people. So let there be a public debate how to contend and deal with this paradigm. Let Minister of Home Affairs give a cool thought it. Our Parliament should also some concern and come out clean on this. This year has been bad. First, the bad news on wheat and rice getting bad and not useable in the go downs, then followed by corruption charges in CWG, Adarsh Building at Mumbai, 2G allocation, and now military land in Meerut. It is not that the issues pertaining to Central Govt. are surfacing, there are issues from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Oddisha, Jharkhand have also rocked the nation.
One thing which is emerging after careful study is that the hunger of money as it is seen amongst the deprived section is far more than the ones whose belly is full, but both deprived and non-deprived on the lines of caste, color, creed has made no difference. From time and memorial the corruption has been there and the rulers have to deal with this menace. Only exemplary punishment could play some deterrent. The real hunger has no meaning now. Every one wants larger share to become patient of diabetes. Death is known but every one feels it is better to die after eating more than the quota allocated by the almighty.
We must accord highest priority to control this national menace which has become big barrier to growth and devaluing all of us internationally. Parliament is interested in finding fault and seeking resignation rather then working to find out that no one ever repeats this in future. May be that every one is involved one way or the other. The only difference being that a few have been exposed and a few not yet found wanting by the law.
I admire the address of Sonia ji on values which enabled India its freedom are getting lost. There is progress alround but it is also a fact that the list of Corepatis have gone up and millions still have struggle secure bred for two times. She has cautioned need to do some thing lest there is revolt in the public.
I admire the ability and courage of Mrs. G to deal with these political upheavals. I hope our country shall become strong enough to sustain these pressures. Let us also remember and pray our respects to that grand lady who had the guts of steal and guts to silence the adversaries and had won national honors.
