Courtney Love is furious as an injured cat over a Dr. Martens ad that is currently on display in the UK. The footwear company’s latest campaign features dead rockstars including Kurt Cobain wearing DM boots and dressed like angels.
Dr. Martens boots are very popular among rockstars, but Courtney Love feels that the ad campaign goes too far. Love feels that Dr. Martens has used her dead husband’s name and likeness in a wrong way. Her spokeswoman said:
Courtney had no idea this was taking place and would never have approved it. She thinks it’s outrageous that a company is allowed to commercially gain from such a despicable use of her husband’s picture. It does appear that in the U.K. what Dr. Martens has done is allowed. Courtney did not, and would not, approve of such a use of Kurt’s name and likeness.
Well, after looking at the Dr. Martens ad, which shows the Nirvana legend sitting on a cloud wearing DM boots and dressed like an angel, even I feel that Love’s anger is justified.
