The international soccer star and fashion icon David Beckham shoot a new ad for Disney since announcing his move to Los Angeles. Beckham’s first endorsement depicts the soccer star as a dragon-slaying prince.
The campaign called ‘World’s Year of a Million Dreams’ photographed Beckham as the prince from ‘Sleeping Beauty,’ astride a white horse and fighting a fire-breathing dragon.
Beckham in a statement released Friday by Disney said,
There were many Disney characters I liked as a kid. Now my sons love the Disney characters and it’s a big part of their lives, a big part of many children’s lives around the world. So to be part of that is an honor and very exciting.
The first set has David Beckham as the Sleeping Beauty prince, Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella, Beyonce as Alice, Lyle Lovett as the March Hare and Oliver Platt as the Mad Hatter. The first images of the series shot at a lake near Madrid, Spain, by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz, will appear in the March edition of Vogue, GQ and other magazines.
Leibovitz wanted people who were ‘globally iconic,’ and Beckham was ‘an instinctive choice,’ Disney spokesman Duncan Wardle said from Orlando, Fla.
