In an interview during his underwater stay David Blaine said that time is taking its toll on his body now, but he seemed determined for the grand finale and all set to break the record. Thousands of spectators were present there to cheer him but he couldn’t break the record.

Previous world record of 8:58 minutes is held by Germany’s Tom Sietas, Blaine was very close to break it but he couldn’t hold his breath for longer and after 7:08 minutes he was pulled out by the divers.

Blaine freed himself from the handcuffs, but before he could free himself from the chains he was taken out of giant goldfish bowl. Because of his week long stay under water he suffered from liver problems, sores on the entire body and all this prevented him from completing the stunt.
