The only film which could beat the all time hit Sholay has added a new chapter to its kitty. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, also known as DDLJ, will rejoice its 600 weeks of showing on April 20 this year at Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir Theatre.
The cute love story depicting the beautiful feeling of love in a wonderful way was enacted by Shahrukh Khan and Kajol in 1995. A strong script and melodious songs were strong pillars to make the film a big hit.
DDLJ broke the nonstop-display record set up by the classic, Ramesh Sippy’s sholay that ran for five years from 1975-80 at Minerva Theatre. However, DDLJ stays put the longest running film in the history of Indian cinema.
Manoj Desai, Executive Director of Maratha Mandir says,
Yash ji (Yash Raj) is planning something special to mark this big occasion. The flick has a collection of more than 60 % from Monday to Wednesday and 100 % on weekends.
