Actress Denise Richards and songwriter Richie Sambora have decided to split after dating for nearly one year. They were last spotted together in New Jersey on April 21 at Sambora’s father funeral, who died of lung cancer.
A source close to Richards told People magazine:
Denise ended things but wanted to be there for Richie as a friend.
A report In Touch magazine, which first carried the breakup news, read: They did break up about a month prior to Richie’s dad’s death. She came to the funeral to support him. He needs to focus on his daughter Ava and wishes Denise and her kids all the best.
Richards came to the limelight after the success of movies like Wild Things and The World Is Not Enough. Her fourth marriage with actor Charlie Sheen also ended up in a divorce and after breaking up Charlie she began dating Sambora in April 2006.
