Actress Denise Richards’ mother, Joni, has passed away. Joni succumbed to kidney cancer after battling for a long time. Richards, who is still to overcome her mother’s sad demise was very close to Joni and had moved her to her own home after divorce with Charlie Sheen.
Seeing her mother’s plight she helped raise money for the Houston’s M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, the same place where her mother was initially treated for the disease.
Joni spent her last days in Long Beach, Calif., hospital. Fortunately when she breathed her last, she was surrounded by Richards, her father, Irv, and Denise’ two young daughters, 3-year-old Sam and Lola, 2, besides other close family friends.
Denise, who is distraught by mother’s illness had earlier told OK! Magazine,
I just finally got to the point in my life after having my daughters and going through a really ugly divorce, and… my mother sick with cancer, that I’ve just gotten to the point where life is so short and I just want to be happy.
Speaking on her mother’s loss Denise is unable to hide herself grieving from her own kids as she said,
Sam walked in and saw me crying about my mom. She wiped my tear and gave me a kiss. Then I thought, ‘You know what? This is life. Mommy sometimes gets sad.’
Denise happens to be the latest celebrity to mourn the loss of her parent in the past several weeks as recently the mothers of Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Kanye West and Jane Seymour passed away. Marie Osmond also lost her dad recently.
The grieving actress has postponed her appearance on ‘The View’. She was supposed to appear as a co-host on the show.
