The inquest into the death of Princess Diana and her paramour Dodi Fayed in the 1997 car crash witnessed another twist when Dodi???s ex-girlfriend, Kelly Fisher testified in front of the committee that Dodi was still secretly sleeping with her while he was publicly wooing Diana. The claim, substantiated by a taped phone conversation between Dodi and Ms. Fisher, effectively quenches his father, Mohammed Al Fayed???s claims that his son and Diana were engaged to be married at the time of their death.
Fisher who is an underwear model, has already appeared at the hearing and has claimed that she was already engaged to the Harrods heir when he began a relationship with the Princess of Wales.
The transcript of the phone conversation in which Fisher confronted Dodi, quotes her accusing him of cheating on both the women in his life.
She said, ???You even flew me down to St. Tropez while you seduced Diana all day and f****d me all night.???
At one point she said, ???You told me you didn???t even like her???why do you suddenly like her????
The transcript also describes how Dodi insisted that he and Ms. Fisher had broken up alleging she had walked out on him. To this fisher responded saying, ???You are such a liar? I walked out of your house because you disappeared and went down to St. Tropez and then you flew me over there. Mr. Fayed then accused her of being hysterical to which she responded, ???Of course I???m hysterical???we were supposed to get married and have children.???
The call ended with Mr. Fayed offering to find Ms. Fisher a psychiatrist.
Fisher, who lives in Los Angeles, presented the evidence at the hearing, disclosing before the jury that she had met Dodi Fayed in 1996 and within months he proposed marriage, subsequently presenting her with an engagement ring in February 1997.
The prenuptial agreement was set to give Ms. Fisher an allowance of £250,000 but the couple had a falling out when the money was slow to arrive.
Fisher claims they were set to marry on August 9, 1997 but fell out again in the summer when the couple were due to fly to St. Tropez for a holiday, but he went without her and soon she saw pictures of him in the newspaper holidaying with Princess Diana in the Mediterranean.
Later she managed to call Dodi and recorded the conversation. On being cross-examined by Michael Mansfield, QC, for Mr. Al Fayed, Fisher came close to tears saying, ???He did want to marry me. He asked my family. We were engaged.???
