Researchers from Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma have claimed that the consumption of dried plums are likely to reduce the problems of osteoporosis. Facts provided claim that a dietary plum diet administered to orchidectomised rats reduced the deterioration of bones. Well the polyphenolic compound content is what the researchers have been banking upon, but the scope and function of this specific antioxidant in saving the bone loss is yet to be figured out.

As far as previous research is concerned antioxidants reduce the problem of arthritis, and similar logic can be applied to dried-plum as of any other antioxidant rich diet. Free radicals that are involved in ageing process and hence bone degeneration are researched to be tackled by an antioxidant diet and if dried plums hit the trials then can be functional for both bone restoration and as a fiber supplement.
