Dum Maro Dum – Aloo Dum Garam!

If you are looking for an admired North Indian vegetable dish that is quite peppery and rich-textured, Aloo Dum is the answer. Make your own Aloo Dum in your kitchen.

Ingredients:

Potatoes: 10 (small)
Poppy seeds: 1 tbsp
Red chili powder: 1 tsp

Dhania Powder: 2.5 tsp
Jeera Powder: Half tsp
Cardamom: 3 pods
Curd: Half cup
Garam masala: 1tsp
Shredded Coconut: 3 tbs
Ginger: Small piece
Coriander leaves (chopped): 1 tbsp
Oil for frying
Salt: according to taste

Method:

First boil the potatoes and peel them. Now fry the potatoes till they turn a little brown. Set it aside after draining the excess oil. Take a pan and fry the onions till they turn slightly brown in oil. Make a paste out of coconut, ginger, poppy seeds, cardamom and green chillies. Add this paste with onion and fry them till the oil separates. Now add cumin, dhaniya, and chili powder and stir well. Finally add curd, salt and potatoes. Add water now and let the ingredients come to boil till the gravy becomes thick. Add garam masala and mix well. Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves. Your Aloo Dum is ready now. Relish it with roti, naan or rice.
