It’s hard to keep a relationship secret in the closely scrutinized world of Hollywood but the Fantastic Four star Ioan Gruffudd and his Welsh partner Alice Evans did manage to eclipse their love affair for seven years. But now the cat is out of the bag: Gruffudd’s representative told People.com that the Brit duo tied the knot this Friday in Mexico.

The couple first met each other on the sets of 2000’s 102 Dalmatians and surprisingly kept quiet about the relationship that had started to forge between them. But at the MTV Movie Awards in June, Gruffudd came out of his shell and told People.com about his relationship with fellow British actress Alice Evans.

He told the People.com:

I am heavily involved. Both Alice and I are doing it ourselves. We did the invitations, which was enough of a burden, and now of course everybody’s saying they want to come – so we’re over by about 20 people, but we’ll work it out.

And they have already started to work on their marriage life. On Friday night, the duo tied the knots at the One and Only Palmilla Hotel in Los Cabos, Mexico amidst “an intimate gathering”. Both the bride and the groom wore customs designed by the Italian Giorgio Armani. While the 33-year Gruffudd opted for a midnight blue suit of wool crepe, his 36-year old bride decided on walking down the aisle in an antique white strapless gown made of cascading tiers of organza.

Both Ioan and Alice are based in Los Angeles and the marriage was never planned to be in Britain. Gruffudd made his first big impression in his role as the Fifth Officer Harold Lowe in the film Titanic and went on to star in movies such as King Arthur and Fantastic Four where he played the role of Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic. Alice Evans had had a less illustrious movie career but is famous for her eight-year long relationship with Olivier Picasso, the grandson of painter Pablo Picasso. She has recently completed filming the drama Dangerous Parking.
