First waves of Tsunami reach Hawaii

At 8.45 p.m. local time, First waves of tsunami seemingly reach Hawaii. Tsunami alert had been issued in Phillipines,Indonesia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, and other coastal regions of the Pacific.

Tsunami had already caused major damage in Japan, this afternoon, following 8.9 magnitude earthquake, seemingly the strongest Japan ever had in 300 years and the seventh strongest in the world, yet the first strongest in an area as highly populated as Japan, according to AlJazeera English, an english version of Arabian news netwwork.

Video coverages depict a terrifying live images of a mass of filth driven by water seeping on the ground engulfing everything on its path, overturning boats, cars, destrying buildings mercilessly. You could even see people trapped inside their houses, waving their hands in hope of being rescued. According to AlJazeera English, “10-meter tsunami hit Sendai airport in north-eastern Japan after the earthquake. The people had taken refuge on the roof and found themselves trapped in the midst of a gaint sea. This earthquake is reported to be the biggest the country had in 300 years.”

BBC says, “The meteorological dept. had warned up to 10meter high tsunami waves.” It sure looks like they had however, forecast an optimistic assesment, as in some areas 13 meter high waves had hit coastal regions.

What do the rulers have to say?
Naoto Kan, the Prime Minister of Japan has appealed to the public to act calmly. He said, “necessary steps would be taken to secure safety of the people in Japan.”
