First it was Paris Hilton, then it was actor Shemar Moore and now it’s George Michael to face the charges for driving under influence (DUI). Recently singer pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while unfit under drugs. Though unlike Paris he hasn’t been awarded jail but the singer has to put 100 hours of community service and wouldn’t be allowed to drive for the next two years. Oops, he has to pay $4,622 penalty as well.

Michael, appearing in Brent Magistrates’ Court, said:

I was ashamed that I had done something really wrong in putting other people at risk. In reality I have been sentenced today on the basis of unfit driving through tiredness and prescription medicines, which I fully accept responsibility for.

The incident occurred in October last year, when the singer was found driving under influence and to make the matter worse he was over speeding that too on the wrong side of the road. He was under such heavy influence of some undisclosed drugs that his car appeared completely out of control.

Pop singer George Michael became a star overnight way back in 1987 when his debut album, Faith, sold record breaking 14 million copies and in no-time ruled the musical charts for months. At the age of 17 Michael wrote “Careless Whisper”, and that too went on to become one of the most played songs of the decade and was voted all time favorite by Londoners in January 1995.
