If being a Hollywood legend and one of the hottest men alive was not a distinction enough for George Clooney then he just had another feather to his hot hat. The UN has appointed him as its Messenger of Peace. The honor recognizes his efforts in restoring world peace through his campaign against war and mass atrocities in Darfur and his advocacy for the cause of was refugees.
Clooney, who has an Oscar for best supporting actor against his name, spent 10 days in Sudan and Chad filming a documentary about the life of Darfur refugees in the year 2006. He also addressed the Security Council of the UN along with Nobel Peace Prize Ellie Weisel, asking the UN to resolve the conflict and help the people of Darfur.
