Globalization in Indian society and media

Globalization is interconnection of people, things beyond nations. 5 aspects of globalization are finance capital, commodities, technology, information, labor. It is considered a natural process, sometimes its considered conspiracy of few nations and companies or part voluntary part compulsions. There are 8 M’s of globalization. Market which is the entry point of all 5 things, money, modernity, middle class ,multinational corporation, media which creates familiarity with rest of the world, migration, Multiculturalism. These have become parameter all over the world. They are active in different parts of world with varying degree.
Certain major impacts of globalization are Hegemony, Homogensation, hybridization, marginalization and regionalization. Urban Indian’s more American than Indians living in America. There is new international stratification.
‘Consumer is soverign’but its negative aspect is that everything commoditized, even water. Africanizing of masses and Americanization of classes has taken place. Globalization is in deep dialog with Indian society. During first wave of globalization India wasn’t ready.
It came not on Indian terms but TINA -there is no alternative. Indian middle class raised there dreams which latter didn’t became true. Globalization was good only for large farmers. Chinese products flooded the market. TATA, Birlas became subsidiaries of big companies. We have global expectations and local bottlenecks .Politicians is the interpreters of globalization. Gainers are loud and get large space in the media.
There are super marriages and super consumption along side disenchanted India. Both can’t exist together. This makes Indian society different with respect to others.
