‘Good Vibrations’ Massage Shoes Or Shoe Bomb? Pakistani Man Detained At Airport

You’d have to be pretty darn stupid to be a Pakistani with a beard, in this day and age, to go to an airport with a pair of shoes that have batteries, electrical wires inside the sole of the shoes, and with an’ on and off’ switch on the side, to boot. No matter how innocent you think the shoes might seem, after Richard Reid the Brit “shoe bomber” in 2001, and the most recent terrorist incident with Pakistani ties, Faisal Shahzad’s failed Times Square bomb, you should expect bizarre shoes like that would be suspect. Unless, of course, this was just another ‘dry run’ of sorts to see if you could get away with it.

The shoes actually do exist, they’re called “Good Vibrations” and they’re supposedly therapeutic in nature, and 30-year-old Faiz Mohammed was caught wearing a pair at the Karachi International Airport on his way to Muscat, Oman. good vibrations shoes UZYYa 16105

He was arrested before he was able to board Thai Airways, and has been detained until authorities can determine whether he was a threat or not. Since he was not found with any other items that could potentially be used for terrorism, he will probably be released once the shoes are examined.

Senior police investigator Niaz Khoso said the suspect had told the police that the shoes were used for massage.

“We have seen such shoes for the first time and have sent them for analysis to verify his claims,” Khoso told Reuters.

“To be honest, we did not know that such shoes are available in the market but we are checking. We have not released him yet but if he is found innocent, we will let him go for sure,” he said.

Apparently he purchased the shoes in a Karachi market, which seems pretty amazing that a market in Karachi would have such specialized shoes. Frankly, I have never seen or heard of them until now, but until they figure out what’s going on, which could take a while, he will remain in jail.

It’s sad to think that we have to question everything, and that everything is now suspect, but that’s the only way we’re going to survive more terrorist attacks. Mohammed could very well be innocent, and if so I feel bad for him, but he should have also known better. If indeed, he was just seeing if he could get away without being noticed, then hopefully this will alert the rest of the world to how potentially lethal these ‘massage’ shoes might be. Problem is, we will probably never know. At least until it happens for real.
