Fur flurry : Gwyneth Paltrow apologizes to PETA

The folks at PETA can order a cake and some drinks. Gwyneth Paltrow has given them a reason to party by coming up with a public apology for wearing fur in her Tod’s campaign photo shoot.

Though I do not favor or endorse cruelty to animals in any form, I really hate PETA for the weird tactics they use to seek apologies from celebs. In Gwyneth’s case, PETA had released a statement that said,

Gwyneth Paltrow won???t be the apple of her daughter???s eye if she continues to flaunt fur.

Now, this is pure emotional blackmailing. And I don’t see it as ethical from any angle. I agree that celebrities do go overboard in their pursuit of fashion sometimes, but PETA’s actions are also not devoid of black shades. Why don’t they go get some lessons in ethical treatment of celebrities?! Anyway, hit the jump to view Gwyneth’s heartfelt apology.

As said by Gwyneth,

That was awkward, and I???m glad you asked, because I do not wear fur at all. It was a day-long photo shoot on a boat near Capri, and there were all sorts of poses behind and draped a stole around my shoulder. I didn???t pay much attention to it and when I noticed it was fur, I assumed it was fake fur, but did not ask, so it???s my fault. I was very surprised when they ended up using that one shot out of hundreds for the centerpiece of the Tod???s ads. I know it???s not a great excuse, but I hope you and your members understand.
