Hangu – Protest against the National Bank of Pakistan

Nearly 60 people gathered in protest along the main road between the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and the Hangu Press Club in order to drive public attention towards the neglect and misbehavior of NBP’s staff. The protestors were mostly pensioners, i.e. ex government employees, who had been complaining of the NBP’s mismanagement and rough behavior with customers, making them wait in long queues and inefficiently performing their duties. nbp loglo VZO84 17659
NBP’s manager for the Hangu Branch told the journalists that the branch had already requested an increase in staff in order to manage the workload but the head office of NBP had not arranged for adding more staff; and this was the factor responsible for the complaints of the customers.
Quite interestingly, some years back, an MBA student of the Peshawar University had researched the topic of the management conditions of government banks (like the NBP) against those of private banks and companies. His conclusions had revealed that the government banks in Pakistan, on the average, provide very unsatisfactory services to customers/clients while most private firms are much better in this regard. NPB is the most well-known government bank in Pakistan but its customer services lag behind most other banks in the country.
