Every year Hasty Pudding Theatricals at Harvard University hands out awards for a ???lasting and impressive contribution to the world of entertainment.??? This year its ???Man and Woman of the Year??? have gone to Christopher Walken and Charlize Theron respectively.
Hasty Pudding Theatricals is the United States’ oldest undergraduate drama troupe. As such these awards are great honors, even for Oscar winners like Charlize Theron (Monster, 2003) and Christopher Walken (The Deer Hunter, 1978). The two follow in the footsteps of last year???s winners BenStiller and Scarlett Johnson.
Theron will be presented with the award in a traditional Woman of the Year parade and roast on February 7. Harvard Yard will be decorated with balloons and the parade will go through Harvard Square before roast take place in the afternoon. A similar ceremony ??? a black-tie affair ??? on February 15 will see Walken get the honors.
Both the events are open to the public and the jabs that presenters take at the honorees make this event as much an attraction as the actual awards.
And in a related development ???Hastiest Pudding of the Lampoon Award??? (a spoof on Hasty Pudding Award), presented by The Harvard Lampoon, a semi-secret Sorrento Square social organization, is set to be presented to Paris Hilton. That???s what you get for having a sex-tape as the most famous work on your C.V.!
