Healthy Frito-Lay Chips?

Health and wellness are driving consumers, and we are committed to health and wellness and saw the opportunity to take our largest brand and make a significant health benefit.

The above quote by Frito-Lay’s spokesperson Aurora Gonzalez is in response to the recent announcement of the company to replace cottonseed oil with NuSun sunflower oil in order to reduce saturated fats in its chips by 50 percent. Facts have proven that such moves have always resulted in the reduction of saturated fats, especially the earlier reduction of saturated fats from 3 grams to 1 gram. Cottonseed oil being high in saturated fats is the worst cooking oil and substituting it with Omega6 and unsaturated fats rich, sunflower oil will not only improve its profile as a snack, but also make it tastier as a potato chip.
