Dame Helen Mirren, actress of the Oscar nominated film ‘The Queen,’ got the chance to meet her role model, Queen Elizabeth II, face to face.
Mirren has been invited to meet the real British queen according to the film’s screenwriter.
Screenwriter Peter Morgan told American film magazine Fade In that he, director Stephen Frears and Dame Helen had been invited by the Queen’s private secretary to have lunch at Buckingham Palace.
Morgan said,
We have been invited to meet her. He (Queen’s) private secretary has invited us for lunch – Stephen, Helen and myself. I gather that means she might pop in.
The film focuses on the handling of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales that took place nearly ten years ago.
Helen Mirren has been conferred with many awards for her lead role in the film. The Queen has also earned six Oscar nominations, including best picture.
