The Highland Chamber of Commerce is going to launch the hottest annual Chili Cook-Off and Salsa Contest of the year on February 25 from 6:30 to 9:30pm at the Highlands Conference Center. The contest will be spread over cooking up cornbread, whipping up salsa and bringing up a good chili or a dressed one. The participants can prepare their portions for best overall chili, best traditional chili, most unusual chili, hottest chili, best overall salsa, best fruit salsa, most unusual salsa, best overall cornbread, most unusual cornbread, best presentation overall and also the best dressed chef.
The cornbread entrees are introduced this year and the contest will also incorporate tasting of chili, salsa, cornbread, beer and soft drinks, and music by the local band. The ticket if book in advance would cost $20 and $25 at the door.
The Highland is going to sizzle with lots of smoke now…at least with such a hot contest. With varied and interesting themes, the Highland Chamber of Commerce can expect more than 25 participants this year.
